## What it is
The Hermes gateway accepts HTTP webhooks and starts the agent from them. HMAC signatures are verified.
URL: http://server:8644/webhooks/<route-name>.

## Enabling
.env: WEBHOOK_ENABLED=true, WEBHOOK_PORT=8644, WEBHOOK_SECRET=...  (or hermes gateway setup)
Check: curl http://localhost:8644/health -> {"status":"ok","platform":"webhook"}

## Routes (config.yaml platforms.webhook.extra.routes)
events (types; empty = all) · secret (REQUIRED, global fallback) · prompt (template with {fields})
· filters (non-match = 200 "ignored") · script (filter/transform) · skills · toolsets (manual config only)
· deliver (telegram/discord/github_comment/email/log...) · deliver_extra · deliver_only (no agent)
· cron_job (runs an existing job) · coalesce (key + window_seconds 30 + max_wait_seconds 300)
· profile (with multiplexing: /p/<profile>/webhooks/<route>).

## Runtime
hermes webhook subscribe <name> [--route-profile <profile>] — toolsets cannot be changed this way (security).

## Security
Never expose the port directly (reverse proxy with HTTPS, or VPN/localhost) · INSECURE_NO_AUTH is test-only
· one secret per route · payload text is untrusted (instructions inside a PR description must be ignored)
· tight filters.

## Watch out
Silent webhooks = wrong secret or event filtered out (200 ignored) · port conflicts · the gateway must run
· many runs from one PR -> coalesce · forwarding only -> deliver_only.
